Mother-Baby Visits
Beginning in February 2026 we will be offering postpartum Mother/Baby home visits for planned hospital births. These visits will be 60-90 minutes long in the comfort of your own home. During the visit a licensed RN or CNM will be making assessments of your and babies vital signs. They will also assess and perform the following:
- Assess and support breastfeeding or bottle feeding and answer any questions you may have.
- Weigh your baby to make sure initial loss and gain are appropriate.
- Assess blood loss for Mom and perineal tears/repairs and cesarean incisions.
- Assess mood changes in the postpartum period.
- Give education about what to expect between visits, and offer a listening ear as you process the birth of your baby.
These visits allow you to stay home with your new baby and recover instead of having to leave the house to access care. We offer visits the day after you get home from the hospital, followed by a visit 2-3 days later and another visit around day 7-10 post birth. This schedule allows a longer in home recovery period for Mother’s and decreases the need to bring baby into a pediatricians office for the first month after birth if all is within normal limits, any baby or Mother who has a significant abnormal finding will be referred to their OB provider or Pediatrician. When you sign on for care with us we will send a letter to both your OB provider and pediatrician introducing our practice and explaining the care you will be receiving from us.
Visits within 35 miles of the Malta office are $150 per visit, there will be an additional mileage charge beyond 35 miles of $2/mile one way.
